Meet the Talent

Susan opened Salon Envy in 2006. She wanted to create a place where guests feel comfortable, receive the service they deserve, and get the style they want. Hairdressing has been her passion since she was in high school when she gave her best friend a perm in her parents bathroom sink (It looked great!). She bought her first set of professional shears and headed to the Horst Education Center in Minneapolis to study to become a stylist. Stints in London (at Aveda) and New York (at Bumble & Bumble and Redken) soon followed. Susan is color trained with L'Oreal Professionnel, Wella Professional and has received training in Toni & Guy Haircutting Techniques. She is also certified in Great Lengths hair extensions. Moving to Chicago, she worked at some of the top salon in Chicago before opening Salon Envy. Salon Envy's first location opened on Clybourn Ave. in Lincoln Park and later moved to the current space on Halsted St. in 2011.

Styles change quickly, and we all know that it's vitally important to keep up. You can be confident that all the stylists here receive ongoing training in cutting, coloring, and styling. We're always up-to-date on the latest trends. Whether people come to see her or any of the stylists here, Susan wants every guest to walk out the door feeling great.

After beating hundreds of other stylists and colorists, Matthew was chosen to tour nationally, performing at professional beauty trade shows all across the country during the late 1990's. His work has been featured in both consumer and professional beauty and trade magazines, snagging his first cover shot at the age of 25. Matthew's innovative patented design of the first electric professional round hair-styling brush won him a spot as finalist in Hammacher Schlemmer's "Search for Invention" contest.

Under the guidance of then Spa Director Jake Birdsong, Matthew worked toward his degree as an iSPA Certified Spa Supervisor (CSS) which he received in 2009. Aside from his work in the salon and teaching, Matt is proud to be the CEO of his own company, Modern Life Products, makers of Salon Restore Brand Cleaning Products.

As a hair color educator for 14 years, Matthew loves to share his passion for creating custom color formulations. He teaches all over the Midwest and continually attends trainings and trade shows throughout the country. Colorist and hair color for over twenty years, this Boston area transplant now shares his brand of gorgeous hair color with Chicago.

Originally from Milwaukee,WI , Annie began her career in 2005 after graduating from Vici Beauty School. Annie has over 15 years of experience along with advanced training with professional lines such as Aveda, Wella, Goldwell, Oribe, Kevin Murphy, and O+M. She specializes in all things hair; from cuts to colors and also keratin treatments. Annie would love to meet you at Salon Envy so she can make your hair dreams a reality!

Destiny graduated from Paul Mitchell the School Chicago in 2016 completing Paul Mitchell’s Dean’s List and graduating with high honors.
Destiny is a self proclaimed hair nerd! With a passion for perfecting her craft, she often attends many classes in all categories of hair. Working in some of the top salons around Chicago for the past four years, Destiny has had extensive training in a wide spectrum of techniques. Including customized cuts, hair perming/relaxing, highlighting, balayage and color corrections. She’s certified in Hot Heads tape-in extensions and Cezanne keratin treatments.
Using her knowledge of several product lines, including Paul Mitchell, Eufora, Davines, and Kevin Murphy, She is confident that she can help you find your favorite products to ensure salon results at home! Her favorite thing to do behind the chair is balayage and vivid colors. Whether you would like some subtle pops of dimension, or a much lighter and brighter result, Destiny will happily customize your color to fit your unique look!!

As a Chicago native, Jalissa started her career in the world of beauty at the age of 23. She attended Empire Beauty School, where her passion for hair really expanded. Jalissa has extensive training with brands such as: Davines, Kevin Murphy, Oribe, and Olaplex. She specializes in cutting, styling wigs, balayage, highlighting, and creating rich and dimensional natural colors for he clients. Jalissa fully believes in delivering the most personable experience to everyone who sits in her chair.

Paul has been in the hair industry since 2015. He graduated from Douglas J Aveda in Chicago in 2015. He completed the color specialist training with Wella in 2018. Then, he continued to improve his skills by completing the cutting training with Vidal Sassoon and the barbering training with Wahlpro, both in 2019.

When Paul isn’t working his magic at the salon, he’s practicing cooking skills especially for authentic Thai and Japanese foods. Paul loves travelling. He dreams to travel the world one day!

Prior to pursuing a career in the beauty industry Lisa studied business at Arizona State University. She then signed with the Ford Agency as a model in both their print and runway departments. While modeling, she followed her lifelong passion for the beauty industry and attended Carlos Valenzuela Academy for Cosmetology. She apprenticed for successful stylists/colorists at elite salons for 2 years while perfecting her skills. She has been associated with prestigious salons in Scottsdale for the past 24 years, and is a Certified Master Colorist, Expert Stylist, and Hair Extension Master. She built her own salon in Scottsdale which she ran for 8 years before selling it to recently relocate to Chicago. Now she is excited to connect with a new clientele in Chicago and provide them with beautiful hair.

Lisa specializes in women's haircuts and color. She loves balayage, beachy blondes, rich brunettes, spicy reds, ombre' color melts, root smudges, baby lights, multi-dimensional and customized color, haircuts both short and long, and layered looks with curtain bangs. Styling with volumized bouncy blowouts, beach waves, curls, and straightening. Hair extension methodis such as I-Tip, Keratip, Fusion, Tape-In, Micro-Tip, One-Step Weft, Clip-in and Hand-tied weft.

Hair is one of our most important accessories and Lisa looks forward to helping clients meet their hair goals.

Haley is not currently accepting new clients.

Haley has been behind the chair since 2010. While going to high school, she studied cosmetology and knew it was the field for her. She has participated in Denver Fashion Week and has had extensive training with Wella, Schwarzkopf, Kevin Murphy, Kerastase, and Bumble and Bumble. Haley specializes in balayage and highlights. Her goal is to make each and every person feel their personal best.

Raised in the vibrant city of Chicago, Sonia pursued her passion for Cosmetology at the age of 20, She has a drive for creativity and an eye for detail.

Sonia Pursued training at Empire Beauty School in 2015 and gained experience in all types of Color, Balayage, Highlights and Haircuts. Including coarse curly hair and fine wavy hair.

Her favorite service to do on clients is color and dimensional highlights, not forgetting a bomb blowout!

Barbara is an Esthetician at our salon. Barbara has been working in the beauty industry for over 20 years and has extensive training with Dermalogica. With a choice of hard or soft wax, Barbara has become known for doing the best brazilian wax in Chicago. With a passion for the industry, Barbara works very hard to stay educated on the latest trends and innovations.

Kathleen is a licensed esthetician who specializes in custom and deep cleansing facials, pore extractions, full body waxing, and revitalizing massage. She has a keen eye for brow shaping with a true attention to detail. Kathleen strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for each of her guests. She aims to evaluate guests’ skin concerns in a comfortable, non-judgmental manner and works to help them feel confident in their own skin. She stays current on trending skin care products and ingredients, and helps to implement her knowledge to each individual guest.
